Liberia's Destiny in God's Search for His Sovereignty & Nation in Africa

Liberia’s Destiny in God’s search for his Sovereignty & Nation in Africa

This speech was delivered by me at a peace rally held in 2005 at the Peace House of UPF-Liberia.
Today I dedicate it to my late mother Georgia Coleman who would have celebrated her 92 birthday today May 8th 2012. It was her love for Liberia that led me back to Liberia after opening my eyes to life in America. I remember getting off the plane at RIA in 1965 and crying to return to America. But she said "No!...you are an African and a Liberian". Fourteen years later Lord Jesus led me to meet my True Parents and begin the pass 33-year journey towards the true liberation for our motherland Africa. I love you muma. May your soul rest in eternal peace centered on the love of Lord Jesus and the True Parent's love:

I.                    An introduction :

Today more then ever we need to seek a clear understanding of the meaning and purpose of our life as a people and a nation. . We have the historical role of being the oldest independent nation in Africa’s history. Why? I believe this is linked to our destiny in God’s search for his sovereignty on Earth. From 1980 with the tragic death of the late President Tolbert our nation has suffered great tribulation, twenty-three (23) years of tribulation to be exact. Clearly such prolonged suffering is not normal but a sign for us to seek divine inspiration in the rebuilding of our nation.

Where do we go from here Liberia in our search for true peace & reconciliation? How do we go forward in fulfilling our destiny in God’s search for his sovereignty on Earth? This paper is a wake up call to the leadership class[1] of our nation (and all West Africa Leaders) as we prepare for election2005. This election will mark the turning point in our nation’s history and the final period for us to fulfill our destiny. I speak as the son of a True Prophet.

2002 was the end of 21 years of captivity and return for Liberia. The time to transfer leadership "back to God" had come. This started in 2004 with the rise of TRC-Liberia.
2002 to 2006
Former President Taylor was Kicked out, symbolizing Satan’s sovereignty being kicked out of Africa.
The mission of NTGL was to supervise the proper transfer of Power to Heaven through elections2005, for the ultimate Royal Union of Chun-Il Guk in Africa.

Already heaven has given us a sign by the sequential death of our elected leader every ten years since 1970[2]. In the full text of this message I will strive to show the importance of our need to emphasis “righteousness in leadership” as a paramount factor in our collective decision making process if we want to inaugurate the upcoming 4th Republic of Liberia as a True Nation of Peace

II.                  Sovereignty and Nationhood:

a. Liberia A Nation build on Christian Principles :
Let us start our discussion by reflecting on the meaning of sovereignty and nationhood. Prior to the Declaration of Independence made by the forefathers of this nation in 1847, Liberia as a nation did not exist. Various tribes of people living under diverse tribal and spiritual norms[3] occupied this area of land. The concept of oneness as a people under God did not exist therefore most interactions where struggles leading to the strongest dominating the weaker. It was the common pain of the settlers under the yolk of slavery and oppression in America that awakened their inner spirit for freedom, liberty and justice for all black people. Lord Jesus Christ personally guided that spirit & determination; therefore, the settlers were fearless in their search for freedom. The uncertainty of the journey across the Atlantic Ocean was unveiled through their faith In God & Christ. Their destiny was like the Israelites crossing the Red Sea into the promised land of Canaan[4]

The whole experience of the pioneers who build this nation was very similar to the pioneers of the great United States of America and the Hebrew Israelites. Though they were few in number compared to the native elder brothers whom they met on these shores, as Africa crosses into this 21st century, we can proudly say that their declaration in 1847 can be considered to be the cornerstone for the recent formation of the African Union[5] a prelude to a new United States in Africa. This event should be Liberia’s pride for Africa; however, for us to truly receive this victory (as symbolized in our unique V-ring) Lord Jesus has told me that we must “get our act together” and restore those original Christian principles upon which this nation was build and as reflected in Mt 22 & 1 John 4:

Mt. 22: 37 – 40: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all
thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

1 John 4:20,21  “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

There has been such a debate in our country over the past years about the so call Christian Principles upon which Liberia was build. It is this very debate or ignorance that has fueled our 23-years of hatred and pain. However from the above bible verse we can see that the principles upon which our nation was build are really universal principles upon which all religions are build  “…on these two commandments hang all the laws of the prophets”. It’s the principle of God who is behind all religions. Knowing that God is Love from the bible, we should have understood as a people that the principles upon which this great nation was build is the Universal Principle of Love as reflected in 1 John 4:

1 John 4:7-8:  “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

Historically we have all err in practicing this ideal of love, thus violence become our only resolve to overcome the social economic injustices during the heat of the Cold War years.

b. The definition of Sovereignty and Nationhood is linked absolutely  to Good or Evil:
We have now come to understand that God through his Son Lord Jesus desired to build a nation of goodness centered on the Christian principles of Love here in Africa through the Rise of the First Republic of Liberia. Regrettably that experiment failed by the death of Tubman in 1970. To better understand this point let us review the definition of sovereignty and nationhood as it relates to Good or Evil in government

First of all, to establish a nation one basically needs people, land and sovereignty. The land is the substantial foundation, which defines the physical location of the nation. The people become the owners with the responsibility to protect and develop the nation. The sovereignty is the source of authority and the root of dominion expressed by the people through their government, which guides the nation. I believe that sovereignty is the most important of the three elements for Nationhood. This alone determines the eternal value of the nation or its true absolute ownership.

In the case of Liberia, Christ chose this land in Africa for our forefathers. Those free slaves that left America where his spiritual children and their sovereign head was God himself through his Son Lord Jesus. This is why our first flag had a cross on it instead of a star and the first name of Monrovia was Christopolis[6]. The heavenly plan was for Christian Principles and the Liberian government to marry, forming a nation of Goodness centered absolutely on God’s heart of Love.

By definition a nation’s sovereignty is concern with the absolute dominion, autonomy or independence of the land and its people. Since the land is objective and non-living we must conclude that the people ultimately determine the sovereignty of a nation in that they determine what dominates them.  The collective lifestyle of the people reflects their values and with historical time creates their culture[7]. A careful historical analysis of any nation’s culture naturally determines the true sovereignty or ownership of that nation and its people. In self-reflection I challenge all members of the NTGL and the Liberian voting population to answer the question “Who is our True Owner here in Liberia God or Satan? That answer will determine which sovereignty we are under.

The pioneers met a culture in Liberia that was partially centered on God through the Islam faith but dominated by Satan represented by the Zoes and many Devils worshiped by various tribes. As they joined their brothers in nation building, Liberia became a nation with three intermingling culture, Traditional African culture with polygamous marriages and witchcraft, Islamic culture with polygamous marriages and the God of Muhammad and the Christian culture with monogamous but at times adulterated marriages centered on Lord Jesus Christ. Over the years since 1847 the True Whig Party, who professed to Trust In God[8], came to rule the government absolutely. Regrettably by the death of Tubman in 1970 it was an open secret that through our leadership class Satan was the true owner of Liberia instead of God. Here we see why the years of pain and suffering took place from 1980 to 2003. It has been a period to separate us from Satan in preparation for God’s Kingdom on Earth in this 21st century.

The bible tells us clearly that to love God is to live a life of Goodness and that those who are the victors of this lifestyle shall be called the children of God[9]. Regrettably today’s religions (both Islam & Christian) focus too much on ceremonies, lip service faith and church going instead of on building true character centered on God’s love and Goodness. It is so difficult to know the true nature of a man’s heart from his words. His lifestyle reveals him better. During election we usually vote base on what people tell us instead of on their character and family background. This is why after 150 years of freedom as a nation (1847 to 1997) we ended up back in Satan’s bosom instead of with a nation centered on Goodness and God.

The last administration of Former President Charles G. Taylor is a clear sign of this national conflict regarding true sovereignty and Goodness. Pre. Taylor personally professed to be a Christian by lip service but a Traditional African Leader by his cultural norms of polygamy and his disregard for the law of Love. During our recent civil war the Former President Taylor spoke a lot about our sovereign right as a people. I believe he was referring to our rights to independence and autonomy as a state amongst the global nations. He used this to decry against the painful sanctions imposed upon our nation by the international community.

Regrettably he and his supporters failed to realize that they were the source of the problem. Their self-centered, narrow-minded view of patriotism[10] did not allow them to realize that national sovereignty cannot be used to defend against the global criminal activity practiced by the NPP Administration. This is the very reason why after WW1 and WWII organizations like the League of Nations and the United Nations appeared.  Just as we Liberians have the right to self-autonomy, our neighbors and the global community does also. The United Nation’s purpose is to protect all nations against self-righteous leaders who try to hide under “National Sovereignty”.

Therefore the ultimate issue of sovereignty and nationhood is meaningless unless it is linked to the Common Good of all human beings as as one family of people. No longer should we allow any administration to use sovereignty as a cover up for evil and the worship of Satan. While we can debate the merit of forgiveness and reconciliation of the mistakes of the past 1st , 2nd and 3rd Republic, we must separate from Satan in this century and fulfill our destiny if we are to see true peace in the 4th Republic. The focal point of that peace must be God’s Love in the Family & Goodness in Government. This will not be possible until we Liberians decide whose side we are on GOD or SATAN. We must move away from African traditionalism if it is linked to Satan as in human sacrifices, idol worshipping and polygamy. In this 21st century heaven is separating the good nations from the evil ones. In closing, I prayer that the 4th Republic of Liberia will rise to its true destiny as a nation of Peace and Unity in this decade. I pray we will finally separate from Satan’s culture.

Let Us Pray:
“ Heaven father please guide us here in the city of Liberia under your new Kingship to know who we are. Let us and our leaders come to know that your Kingship has been restored on earth through the blood and sacrifice of the beloved True Parents of all Mankind. Let us come to know that you are the Parents of All Humankind but being invisible you have chosen the Rev. Sun Myung Moon and His Wife as the visible True parents to declare & represent your sovereignty on Earth. Let us realize that if Adam & Eve didn’t fall they would have represented that same sovereignty through their marriage and love, but their fall allowed Satan’s Kingship to dawn on Earth. Let us realize that you sent Lord Jesus to the Earth to defeat Satan and restore your Kingship through his marriage and love as in Mt. 22, but Israel rejected him, so his death was the price Satan demand to liberate mankind spiritual until the 2nd coming of Christ. On the victorious foundation of the unity of the five great saints in Spiritual World let us on Earth come to clearly understand the value of True Parents as the 2nd Coming of Christ.

Please help us to separate from Satan’s culture here in Africa as practiced by our traditional forefathers and thus separate from your wrath that comes with this culture. Our traditional ancestors did not know you deeply, please allow them to be educated by Lord HJN , Lord Jesus and Mohammad in the Spiritual World so that they can become True Ancestors of Goodness. Let us all come to understand your heart through True Parents whom you have sent to mankind to guide us into the final Age of your restored sovereignty on Earth. Let our people receive the blessing of Marriage in great numbers this year and understand the value of True Families as a foundation for your kingdom on Earth.

In conclusion beloved Father & Mother thank you very much for guiding us through these 23 years of national sorrow as Satan tried to destroy our West African community with his bitterness. Let us now awaken and go forward to fulfill our destiny as leaders in the march to Chun Il Guk on Earth”

I pray this in the name of Gerald B. Coleman a CBF

[1] By leadership class I am referring to governmental, NGO, religious and  institutional leaders; including parents, teachers, and professional.
[2] Tubman died in 1970, Tolbert died 1980. Doe died 1990, and Taylor was spared by the death through the sacrifice of his V. P. Dogolia in 2000 only to be kicked out three years later 2003. These 33 years of Liberia’s history where redemptive years of Lord Jesus own life.
[3] Most of the tribes where traditionalist or Islamic in their spiritual life and practiced polygamy as a family norm.
[4] later I will show that Liberia as the step-child of America inherited the role of the 2nd Israel for Africa. This was the bases of our destiny in restoring God’s sovereignty in Africa.
[5] On July 11th 2000 the constitutive Act of The African Union was signed by 53 heads of States in Lome ,Togo
[6] Christopolis means City of Christ.
[7] In this instant I refer to culture as the habitual lifestyle of what a group of people value, rooted in their collective family norms.
[8] WHIG is said to mean We Hope In God
[9] Mt 5:44 – 45: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
[10] This can be referred to as False Patriotism as compared to True Patriotism where the whole is emphasized over the self-interest of a group.
